Juan Pérez Floristán’s career has taken him to venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Tonhalle Zürich, Teatro La Fenice in Venice and Madrid’s Auditorio Nacional de Música. He has appeared at festivals including the BBC Proms, the Ruhr Klavier Festival, the Verbier Festival Academy, the Chopin Festival in Poland, the Beethoven Festival in Warsaw, and the international festivals of Santander and Granada.
His repertoire includes more than thirty concertos for piano and orchestra, ranging from Mozart to Crumb, and continues to expand through his regular involvement in premieres of new works.
He has worked with ensembles including the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Jerusalem Camerata, Monterey Symphony, Malmö Symphony Orchestra and Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla. Conductors with whom he has collaborated include Jesús López Cobos, Lahav Shani, Vasily Petrenko, Juanjo Mena, Pablo González, Lorenzo Viotti and Josep Vicent.
His recording projects include collaborations with the BBC Concert Orchestra in London, a solo album for Naxos, chamber music projects and film soundtracks. His discography features works by Beethoven, Liszt, Schumann, Mussorgsky, Ligeti, Ravel, Debussy, Ginastera, Bartók, Falla, Schubert, Shostakovich, Brahms and Alberto Iglesias, among other composers.
Chamber music also plays a prominent role in his career, with collaborations alongside the Cuarteto Casals, Fine Arts Quartet, Kebyart, Pablo Ferrández, Kian Soltani, Cristina Gómez Godoy and Pablo Barragán, in addition to his regular work with Trío VibrArt.
Winner of both First Prize and the Audience Prize at the Arthur Rubinstein Piano Competition and the Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition, as well as First Prize at the Steinway Competition in Berlin, he has also received RTVE’s Ojo Crítico Award and the Medal of the City of Seville.
He owes his musical training primarily to his mother, María Floristán, as well as to Galina Eguiazarova and Eldar Nebolsin. He has also received guidance from musicians including Elisabeth Leonskaja, Daniel Barenboim, Ferenc Rados, Menahem Pressler, Nelson Goerner and Kirill Gerstein.
Since 2020, he has taught piano at the Barenboim Foundation in Seville, and since 2021 he has been a Yamaha Artist. For two seasons, he was part of the team of La Ventana on Cadena SER, where he presented his own regular segment devoted to classical music outreach.
During the 2026–2027 season, he tours with the Joven Orquesta de Canarias under the direction of Víctor Pablo Pérez, performing Noches en los jardines de España by Manuel de Falla. He also returns as soloist with the Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, Orquesta de Córdoba, Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears and Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya. He also releases a new album with Trío VibrArt.
