Marimba soloist Conrado Moya is today one of the most internationally recognised figures on his instrument, acclaimed for his extraordinary technical and expressive abilities and for his total commitment on stage.
Conrado Moya maintains an intense international career as a marimba soloist, performing with orchestras, choirs and symphonic wind bands such as ADDA Sinfónica, Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, the Orchestra of the Community of Madrid, the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, Orquesta Vigo 430, the Orchestra of Córdoba, the Orchestra of Extremadura, the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, the City of Almería Orchestra, Bilbao Sinfonietta, the Bilbao Choral Society, and the Municipal Bands of Barcelona, Bilbao and Madrid.
His symphonic repertoire has recently been expanded through the world premières of several marimba concertos — all written for him — by Tomás Marco, Lorenzo Palomo, José Luis Greco and Albert Guinovart, the latter recorded on an album with the Barcelona Municipal Band. These also include Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto Heroico in a version for marimba, transcribed by Conrado Moya himself and exclusively authorised for the artist by the composer’s heirs.
His chamber-music activity includes tours of Germany, Spain, Japan (2022) and the United States (2022 and 2024) with a project featuring J. S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations alongside Katarzyna Myćka. He is a member of ensembles such as Marimba Quartett and the Li Biao Percussion Group, with whom he has toured Latin America (2015) and China (2013, 2023 and 2024).
Trained at the conservatories of Alicante and Stuttgart and at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, Conrado Moya has won awards including First Prize at the Córdoba International Marimba Competition and the Honorary Prize at the Alicante Performance Competition, as well as the Rosa del Desierto Prize and a scholarship from the Pro-Música Association “Amadeo L. Sala”.
His teaching activity leads him to give masterclasses and marimba courses all over the world. He is currently Professor of Marimba and Percussion at the Escuela Superior de Música de Alto Rendimiento (ESMAR) in Valencia. Conrado Moya is a performing artist for the American marimba manufacturer Marimba One, with whom he has also developed his own line of mallets.
