CANTORÍA is a vocal ensemble specialising in the performance of Iberian Renaissance and early Baroque polyphony. In 2024 they were ensemble-in-residence at the Utrecht Early Music Festival and the Ambronay Festival, and made their debuts at Laus Polyphoniae in Antwerp, the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam and London’s Wigmore Hall. That same year they undertook their first tour of the United States and appeared at festivals such as All’Improvviso in Gliwice, the Brighton Early Music Festival and the Castell de Peralada Festival.
Their first recording, devoted to the Ensaladas of Mateo Flecha and made at the Ambronay Cultural Centre in 2022, received awards including the Diapason Découverte, the Melómano de Oro and the German Record Critics’ Award. In its new phase, Cantoría has expanded both its repertoire and its number of members, developing for the first time programmes for larger vocal forces and chamber orchestra. This artistic evolution has been enthusiastically welcomed by both critics and audiences.
Cantoría collaborates with institutions such as the CSIC, the University of Murcia, ESMUC, Pompeu Fabra University and the ICCMU, and is supported by INAEM, the Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries of the Region of Murcia and the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies.
