CANTORÍA

Cantoría is one of today’s leading vocal ensembles, specialising in the performance of Iberian vocal repertoire from the Renaissance and the Early Baroque.

During the 2026–2027 season, Cantoría is Ensemble in Residence at CNDM (National Centre for Music Dissemination) in Spain, having previously served as Ensemble in Residence at the Utrecht Early Music Festival and the Festival d’Ambronay. The ensemble has recently made its debut at Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, the Salle Cortot in Paris, Wigmore Hall in London and BOZAR in Brussels. At the same time, it completed its first tours of the United States and Latin America, while also collaborating with the National Forum of Music in Wrocław (Poland), the National Centre for Early Music in York (United Kingdom) and the Torroella de Montgrí and Castell de Peralada festivals.

In recent years, Cantoría has also appeared in Berlin, Leipzig, Prague, Stockholm, Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent, Brighton, Cambridge, Valletta, Pavia, Rome and Vilnius, among many other international venues.

Its debut recording, devoted to Ensaladas by Mateo Flecha and recorded at the Ambronay Cultural Centre in 2022 as part of the EEEmerging project, received several distinctions, including the Diapason Découverte, the Melómano de Oro and the German Record Critics’ Award.

In this new phase of its artistic development, Cantoría has expanded both its repertoire and its line-up, enabling it to present programmes for larger vocal forces and chamber orchestra. This artistic evolution has been met with critical acclaim and enthusiastic audience response.

Founded in 2016 at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) in Barcelona, Cantoría is the organiser of the ECOS Festival of Early Music in Sierra Espuña (Region of Murcia). The ensemble has also performed at prestigious institutions including the Biblioteca Nacional de España, the Biblioteca de Catalunya, the Museo del Prado and the Musée du Louvre in Paris.

Cantoría has been awarded the 2025 Ojo Crítico Prize for Classical Music and a 2025 Leonardo Grant from the BBVA Foundation. It collaborates with institutions including the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council), the University of Murcia, ESMUC, Ars Hispana, the University of Zurich and ICCMU, and receives the support of INAEM, the Institut Ramon Llull and the Institut Català de les Empreses Culturals.
