Bio

MorenoGil&Escudero (Belenish Moreno-Gil and Óscar Escudero) are a composer duo working at the intersection of sound, music theatre, and digital art. Their works, which often revisit genres from the classical music tradition, draw on technological research, archaeology, and a critical engagement with contemporary culture to propose new ways of understanding concepts such as “body,” “identity,” and “memory.”

Their works have been commissioned and performed by, among others, ensemble mosaik (DE), Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart (DE), Sarah Maria Sun (DE), Noa Frenkel (IL), United Instruments of Lucilin (LUX), International Ensemble Modern Academy (DE), PHACE (AT), NEMØ Ensemble (BE), and Quartet Gerhard (ES). These and other artists have presented their music at many of Europe’s leading venues and festivals, including the Munich Biennale for Music Theatre, Rainy Days Luxembourg, Wien Modern, Ultraschall Festival (Berlin), ECLAT (Stuttgart), Wittener Musiktage für Neue Kammermusik, Kontakte Biennale (AdK Berlin), Warsaw Autumn, ZKM Karlsruhe, Kunstfest Weimar, Überschlag Hannover, Schloss Solitude (Stuttgart), Fundación Juan March (Madrid), and L’Auditori (Barcelona). Their work has also been recognized with national and international awards, such as the Austrian Federal State Scholarship 2025, the Prix Ars Electronica 2021 (Honorary Mention for Subnormal Europe), Progetto Positano 2019 (Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation), the Giga-Hertz-Spezialpreis 2018 (ZKM, EXPERIMENTALSTUDIO), the Busoni Förderpreis 2017 (Academy of the Arts, Berlin), the SGAE-CNDM Young Composers Award 2015, and First Prize at the Thailand International Composition Festival 2013 (Bangkok).

In their pedagogical work, they are regularly invited as guest lecturers at various European institutions. From 2021 to 2023, Belenish was a professor in the Master’s Degree in Solo Performance at Centro Superior Katarina Gurska, and Óscar taught in the Composition Department at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA). He is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Anton Bruckner Private University (Linz), researching the potential of escape rooms as a model for composing immersive music theatre works.
