ANDREA REY

Mezzosoprano Andrea Rey, born in Cambados (Pontevedra), began her vocal career in 2013 at the CMUS Manuel Quiroga in Pontevedra. She continued her studies at the Vigo Conservatory of Music and later at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid.

After taking part in Crescendo, the professional training programme of Madrid’s Teatro Real, and in the Zarza Project at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, she has appeared in operatic productions such as Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges and Chueca and Valverde’s La Gran Vía. She was also selected by the Teatro Real to join its Opera Carriage project, bringing opera to numerous towns and cities across Spain.

Her career as a soloist includes collaborations with leading ensembles and institutions such as the Orchestra and Choir of the Community of Madrid, the Vigo Classical Orchestra, the Getafe Symphony Orchestra and the Nereydas Orchestra, as well as appearances at the Cuenca Sacred Music Week and the Úbeda and Baeza Festival.

During the 2024–25 season she appears in recital in the Novas Voces Galegas series alongside Aurelio Viribay, organised by Amigos de la Ópera de A Coruña, and gives a zarzuela recital with Borja Quiza at the Bal y Gay Festival. Together with him, she also stars in Barbieri’s El barberillo de Lavapiés in Costa Rica, in the acclaimed production by Alfredo Sanzol for the Teatro de la Zarzuela. She opens her 2025–26 season with engagements at the Real Filharmonía de Galicia (opera gala) and the Teatros del Canal (El orgullo de quererte), and returns to the title role in Barberillo, this time in Menorca.
