ANDREA REY

Mezzo-soprano Andrea Rey, from Cambados (Pontevedra), began her vocal training at the “Manuel Quiroga” Conservatory in Pontevedra, where she graduated with the Extraordinary Prize. She continued her studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Vigo and the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid.

Following her participation in Crescendo, the Teatro Real’s young artists programme, and Proyecto Zarza at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, she appeared in productions including L’Enfant et les sortilèges by Ravel and La Gran Vía by Chueca and Valverde. She also took part in the Teatro Real’s Carroza del Real, an initiative that brings opera to audiences across Spain.

As a soloist, she has collaborated with the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, the Real Filharmonía de Galicia, the Orquesta Clásica de Vigo, the Orquesta Sinfónica “Ciudad de Getafe” and Nereydas. She has also appeared at the Cuenca Religious Music Week, the Ciudad de Úbeda International Festival of Music and Dance and the Bal y Gay Festival. Her concert repertoire includes Messiah by Handel, Magnificat by Bach, Gloria by Vivaldi, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi and the Coronation Mass by Mozart.

On the operatic stage, she has appeared in El orgullo de quererte by Javier Carmena at Teatros del Canal; El barberillo de Lavapiés by Barbieri in Costa Rica, under the musical direction of Andrés Salado, in Alfredo Sanzol’s production for the Teatro de la Zarzuela; and Carmen by Bizet in Mexico, where she performs the role of Mercédès under the musical direction of Alondra de la Parra and the stage direction of Bárbara Lluch.

During the 2026–2027 season, she performs the role of Victoria in the world premiere of Las trece rosas rojas by Cecilia Bercovich at the Teatro de la Zarzuela. She also appears in Andrómeda y Perseo by Juan de Hidalgo under the musical direction of Aarón Zapico, returns to Carmen with the Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid, reprises the role of Mari Paz in El orgullo de quererte at the Auditorio de Tenerife, and takes part in the commercial recording of the work.
